The NYTimes.com puts together a few interviews on local folks and their jobs. Actually, they just enable the process – the viewers ask the questions, the Times post the questions, along with the interviewee’s responses. Quite a clever way to conduct an interview.
Here’s an example of one of these interviews, in this case with a window washer. You see these folks around all the time, dangling from cables attached to a platform, sliding down the side of a building. Kinda neat to see read a bit of insight into how/why/where/when and what they use during their day.

While the World Cup was a few hours away, our Meetup group held it’s own tournament final, pitting Columbia against the United Nations. I wasn’t able to stick around to the final whistle, but I later learned Columbia won 3-0.
At the end, our very own World Cup trophy was presented. Fun!

Oh dear, Mr. Suarez may be in a world of trouble with the locals…
This article is to inform Suarez that, just because we deal with each other with pangas and AK47s, outsiders should not think they can mess with one of us and get away with it, even if it is on the soccer field.
We hold our grudges.

A few years ago, while working with a software consultancy company and running uphill to introduce a new product to market, we engaged with a snarky poster in a very valuable discussion room. At the time, we didn’t know who and how powerful this person was that we were debating our products merits with.
After a few back-and-forths where we were clearly on the defensive, we decided to take a more aggressive approach, with the conclusion of “we’d love for you to give our product a try and give us your feedback through this discussion”.

Hulu, the folks who make an online service that provides TV shows and other video over the Internet, has hit a snag. Or, has hit it rich, depending on which way you look at it.
Hulu recently released an app, Hulu Plus, for the Apple iPad crowd. Sounds like a great idea, until you scroll down to read a smattering of the reviews…

The fun part of picking up new technology is figuring out whether and how it fits into your life, and if it will actually add value to what you do. This value can come in a number of different and coupled ways.
When I picked up the iPad, I was excited about its size – since i do a lot of local commuting and traveling, it was the perfect size for what I needed. I picked up the wifi-only version, since I expected to be connected to the Internet whenever it was necessary. Otherwise, I’d pick up a few apps and set up a few processes that would allow me to get stuff done while offline.
The problem with this type of setup is that it exposes some flaws in the way we normally go about our business. Here’s one:

That’s a quote attributed to Alvin Toffler in a recent AdAge article by Oren Frank titled Think Technology Will Bring You Closer to the Consumer? Think Again: Why a Chasm Is Growing Between Consumers and Marketing.
