Over the past few weeks, I’ve made some changes to this website. My goal for this site has been to provide content, ideas, and real-life examples of technology that can help small businesses.
I’m hoping the changes made will provide even more help.
In general, here are the tweaks – both big and small – I made over the past few weeks:
I picked up visitor passes awhile back for the 9/11 Memorial. We weren’t in New York ten years ago, but it’s quickly become our home.
Getting down there is a bit tricky. We took the 2 Express to Chambers and had to duck through a few buildings to get there. It was certainly worth it.

These meetings keep getting better – Thanks to everyone that showed up yesterday!
Our third Work from Home meeting (a more clever name is coming, promise) was greeted with terrific, clear weather which helped the attendance tremendously – our biggest group yet! The number and quality of conversations was outstanding. It was great to see so many people giving and receiving great ideas, suggestions, and feedback.

Over the past few months, I’ve had some stirring to create some sort of community. What I realized, in looking deeper at the word ‘community’, is that I wanted to bring some like-minded folks together from my neighborhood.
The problem? I wasn’t all that involved in my neighborhood. I played soccer during the week and weekend but that wasn’t always in my neighborhood (depending on how you define ‘Upper West Side’).
So, I thought about what it was that I did and the experience I could bring to a community meeting. From that, I started the Upper West Side Work from Home meeting. In a city as big as New York, I thought there might be a handful of folks that shared the same experience / challenges / opportunities I do – working from home and slightly missing some of the commradarie found when working in an office.
This past weekend, I ventured down to Zuccotti Park in New York to check out the Occupy Wall Street movement first-hand. I’ve seen it on TV and have certainly read about it via different channels on the Internet, but it’s always good to see things first-hand before building an opinion or making any kind of statement.
After spending an hour or so down at Zuccotti Park, I can firmly state the following:
I have no idea what the heck is going on down there.
