A recent Sky Sports news article is encouraging – Roberto Baggio is coming back to soccer in a role with Italy’s national team. After a disastrous 2010 World Cup campaign, it’s good to see Baggio being mentioned as part of Italy’s rebuilding.

For me, Baggio represented an entirely new era in playing and succeeding in playing soccer. A little guy, Baggio was able to throw an entire country on his back and pull them through the finals. While the ending wasn’t fit for a fairytale, the fact he was able to do what he did was astonishing.

I’ll be watching his upcoming success just as intently.
